Project kick-off workshop “Agro-econvert: Agroecological transition and organic certification in Vietnam to Empower Rural communities”

The Vietnamese Nafosted and Switzerland SNSF have approved the 3-year project proposal “Agro-econvert: Agroecological transition and organic certification in Vietnam” for Viet Nam, which was jointly developed by FAO, The Research Institute of Organic Agriculture – FiBL Switzerland and the Center for Agricultural Research and Ecological Studies (CARES), Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA). In Vietnam, the project was approved by Decision No. 85/QD-HDQL-NAFOSTED dated Dec 5, 2021. For more details about the project, please refer Here.

Within the framework of the “Agro-econvert” project research cooperation program funded by the Vietnam National Foundation for Science and Technology Development (NAFOSTED) and the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF); Center for Agricultural Research and Ecological Studies (CARES) – Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA) in collaboration with FAO, Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL) organized the Project Kick-off Workshop on June 14, 2022, at Hall C, VNUA.

Assoc. Dr. Pham Bao Duong gave a welcome speech and opened the Conference.

Opening the program, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Pham Bao Duong – Deputy Director of VNUA and Dr. Robert Home – FiBL representative gave a welcome speech to all conference participants. After the solemn opening ceremony, the speakers who are experts in the field of organic vegetable production, in turn, presented topics such as Organic agriculture: opportunities, challenges, and development solutions in Vietnam. ; Participatory Monitoring System (PGS): experience in Vietnam; Market potential of organic agricultural products in Vietnam;…

At this seminar, the speakers updated their overview and discussed with guests Vietnam’s vegetable industry, including vegetable development policy, organic vegetable production, and consumption, development difficulties, and opportunities; at the same time sharing experiences on local vegetable production and orientation for organic vegetable development (provinces of Hanoi, Ha Nam, Hoa Binh, and Hung Yen).
